Tickets are on sale, now, for all performances of the District Musical, Bye Bye Birdie.  The musical this year will have six performances with all students performing in every show but with alternate casts for lead roles.  Over 80 students from Grades 7-12 will participate as members of the cast and crew.  In addition, the musical will have a live student orchestra this year.

Performances are scheduled for the weekends of Feb. 21 and Feb. 28 with one show on Friday evening (7:00 pm) and two shows on Saturday (2:00 pm and 7:00 pm) each weekend.

Ticket prices are $15 for Section 2, 3, and 4, and, $5 for Section 5.  For Section 1, students with an ASB are admitted for free but they still must reserve their free ticket online.

In Bye Bye Birdie, a rock-and-roll heart-throb’s draft notice sparks nationwide hysteria as a struggling songwriter schemes to cash-in on the chaos before the teen idol goes off to the Army.  Common Sense Media recommends Bye Bye Birdie for viewers ages nine and older, citing its “G” rating, but noting that the focus on adolescent romance and swooning teenagers may be better suited for older children.  The musical is considered a fun satire of celebrity culture.
