Honoring Our Veterans

Posted Date: 10/29/26 (09:00 PM)

Each November, West Valley High School sets aside time to thank the veterans in our community. This year, every local veteran is invited to WVHS on Friday, November 6, 2026.

The day starts with breakfast. Veterans are welcome to join the West Valley School District from 8:15 am to 9:15 am in the West Valley High School Commons. It's a relaxed time to enjoy a meal, visit, and be welcomed by students and staff.

At 9:30 am, everyone will move to the high school gym for the Hall of Honor assembly. The assembly runs until 10:00 am with the West Valley Honor Guard helping to lead the ceremony as students and staff come together to recognize our veterans for their service.

This event is a chance for students and veterans to get to know each other, hear stories, and let history come alive. Veterans often visit classrooms and talk with students about their lives and their service, but for students, these real-life connections bring their academics to life in a way no textbook can.

The connection with veterans is especially meaningful for JROTC cadets and students in the College-in-the-High-School military history class, who are learning about the people behind the history they study. It also matters for every student who gets the chance to say thank you in person.

WVSD is proud to bring its Strategic Plan to life through this event by helping students feel connected to their school and community.

For West Valley Rams, Veterans Day is a time to show gratitude together. When students and veterans share a morning like this, it makes our schools stronger and builds bonds across the community.

If you are a veteran, or you know one, please join us on Friday, November 6, 2026. Breakfast is from 8:15 am to 9:15 am in the West Valley High School Commons, followed by the assembly from 9:30 am to 10:00 am in the high school gym.
