Jan 7, 2025
MLK Day, Monday, January 20, 2025
Yakima County will hold our 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration with the theme “Don’t give up the dream. Keep hope alive!” There will be various activities for everyone in the community to come together in unity. This annual event highlights the work of government agencies, non-profit organizations, schools, private businesses, and community members to promote peace. OIC of Washington and these entities work together to plan this important celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The West Valley High School JROTC and the West Valley High School Marching Band Drum Line will lead the Peace Walk on Monday, January 20, 2025 in Yakima.
On this day, our community celebrates the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an influential African-American civil rights leader. This day commemorates the 40th anniversary of the National Day of Service, which was established to honor his life and legacy.
The Peace Walk will start at 12:00 noon. Walkers will assemble at 11:30 am at the corner of N. 5th Avenue and MLK Jr. Boulevard in Yakima. After the Peace Walk, there will be a Celebration Ceremony at the Yakima Convention Center. All are invited to attend.
