FORM OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING
WEST VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 208 YAKIMA COUNTY, WASHINGTON
NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Resolution No. 23-05-755, that the Board of Directors (the "Board") of West Valley School District No. 208, Yakima County, Washington (the "District") will hold a special meeting on June 20, 2023, starting at 7:00 P.M. or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Library of the West Valley High School, located at 9800 Zier Road, Yakima, WA 98908.
Due to significantly lower than anticipated construction costs and other factors, the District has excess bond proceeds and excess State of Washington funding assistance in connection with the District's 2019 voter-approved capital improvements. The purpose of the special meeting is to conduct a public hearing to:
(a) consider whether certain state and local circumstances should cause alterations to the specific expenditures from the bond proceeds and State funding assistance originally authorized in Resolution No. 18-11-680 to permit the District to use the excess bond proceeds and excess State funding assistance to pay costs to, (1) make various capital improvements throughout existing schools and facilities, (2) acquire land as sites for new and expanded facilities, and (3) legally defease a portion of the District's outstanding 2019 bonds, all as more particularly described in Resolution No. 23-05-755 (collectively, the "Alterations"); and
(b) receive public testimony. If the Board determines that the Alterations are in the best interests of the District, the Board may, at a future public meeting, adopt a new resolution that amends Resolution No. 18-11-680 to incorporate the Alterations. Copies of Resolution No. 23-05-755, which set the time and place for the public hearing will be posted or linked on the District's website at https:/lwww.wvsd208.org/ or may be obtained by contacting the Superintendent's Office.
All residents of the District wishing to be heard should appear at the public hearing and present their views. Alternatively, or in addition, such interested residents may submit their views in writing and deliver them to: Dr. Peter Finch, Superintendent and Secretary to the Board, at finchp@WVSD208.ORG. The Board of Directors (or Secretary to the Board) will read up to the first 3 minutes of each person's written comments, and each submission will be entered into the record in its entirety. For those requesting comments to be read who are unable to submit written comments, please contact Superintendent's Office at (509) 972-6007 so alternative arrangements can be made.
