WASA Community Leadership Award - Yakima Valley Partners for Education

Every year, the West Valley School District recognizes a community organization that provides support for West Valley Schools. The award is sponsored by the Washington Association of School Administrators. This year, Yakima Valley Partners for Education was recognized for the WASA Community Leadership Award.

Under the leadership of Suzy Diaz, the Yakima Valley Partners for Education organization has provided resources and training for students, staff, and families in the West Valley School District. Yakima Valley Partners for Education is located at Heritage University.

Through this partnership, West Valley was able to secure Congressional Directed Spending funds from US Senator Patty Murray’s office. With these funds, West Valley was able to add a preschool classroom at Mountainview Elementary as well as supplies, furniture, and materials to support developmentally appropriate practices for elementary students.

Yakima Valley Partners for Education has secured additional grants to provide books for students, food for families, and stipends for tutors for adult education in West Valley. The leadership of Suzy Diaz has had a positive impact for the students, staff, and families of the West Valley School District.
